Day 5 – Saturday, July 23

Saturday began with boarding a bus, which could be a good experience or a bad one, depending on who you ask.

The first stop of the day was Chęciny castle, a castle from which Polish troops went forth in their conflict with the Teutonic Knights; later a residence of queens; later a prison. The view from the castle towers of the town of Chęciny in the valley below was stunning.

The next destination was First Baptist Church in Kraków, the location of our first concert! The building in which First Baptist Church meets was once a Gestapo headquarters in Kraków. Now, a cross has replaced the swastika. In the end, our God always wins!

The final destination of the day was Hotel Maximum, which will be our lodging for the next few evenings. To get there, some enjoyed a half hour walk through Kraków under a canopy of Norway Maples and Lindens. Others enjoyed a half hour wait while riding on public transit. After checking into the hotel, some decided to explore old town Kraków, as only it can be experienced directly after a rain storm.
