Day 6 – Sunday, July 24

The morning began with breakfast in the basement of our hotel; and what a breakfast it was! Continental breakfasts in America would not compare! There was a great variety of salads, meats, & cheeses along with what we would call more traditional.

Our Sunday morning concert was at the Second Baptist Church in Krakow. This church meets in the foyer of a Christian School. Approximately 30 people attended the morning service. There were Ukrainians and a few Americans among the Polish. They were very attentive and sensitive to the music as they applauded after some songs but not all.

Our lunch today was at a local Polish restaurant where large bowls full of pierogies were set before a hungry choir. The pierogies came in many flavors; from spinach & cheese, to mushroom & cheese, potato & bacon, & even a pizza flavored one.

We enjoyed the beautiful afternoon by exploring the city of Krakow. Some investigated Wawel Castle climbing it’s bell tower, observing many sarcophagus (coffins) of ancient rulers, and seeing the dragon breathe fire next to the Vistula River.

Others explored Old Town Krakow with it’s picturesque Market Square, St. Mary’s Cathedral, and many shops, and eating places.

At 6:45 we met at St. Barbara’s Cathedral to enjoy the interesting sounds of a German Madrigal choir.

We pray that God’s light will somehow shine through us here in Poland whether it is through our singing or through a random conversation had on the streets!
