We boarded the bus at 9am and said good-bye to the lovely place that had been ours for 3 nights.
The 1 ½ hour drive to Kazimierz Dolwy went quickly. There we dispersed to explore the charming artist town. Laverne’s and Jonathan’s brought a fantastic picnic lunch which we ate with gusto beside the VIsula River. We had a few hours to ramble to churches and castle ruins, drink coffee, find ice cream and waffles, and meander through the many little galleries to admire and/or buy paintings. The cobblestone streets and old market square provide part of the town’s delightful atmosphere.
Then we headed 3 hours east to Chelm, which is nearly at the Ukrainian border. The ladies at the Baptist church served a fabulous dinner that ended with enormous donuts (also dubbed “enamolous doormats”).
We ate and drank and socialized happily at the tables until we dispersed to our assigned places of rest.
